I am an introvert, grew up being forced to ‘join in’. It didn’t equip me with presentation skills. As an adult, I did a course for this. I can do a presentation no problem now, but I am still very much an introvert. We need to teach children that it’s okay to be an introvert without giving it a label. Issues arise and follow you throughout adulthood when you are made to feel ‘different’ or labelled in some way. I still struggle to accept that being shy or an introvert is okay, and spend way too much of my life trying to be like ‘everyone else’. Choice and opportunity is the way forward, in my opinion.

It seem rewarding and I’ve always enjoyed being a positive influence on the youth because being an introvert and shy I know how simply have someone to go to and talk to can feel so great. With this society being so negative and so morally uninfluential (I think I made that word up i think the youth need someone to set the record straight.

I am an introvert and shy. I have always excelled in school. I was an honor student every year, even graduated with honors, but when I was in 2nd grade I was keep back not because my grades but because of my social skills. They said I didn’t interact with the other students enough. They said I was “too shy” and needed time to develop socially.
