Calling all teachers! Want to attend a TED Conference?

Are you a teacher? Do you want to attend a TED Conference? TED-Ed is thrilled to announce a limited number of discounted tickets for teachers wanting to attend TEDActive 2015 in Whistler, BC, Canada.
What is TEDActive?
TEDActive is an event held in parallel with the annual TED Conference. The event features a live simulcast of the conference on beautiful HD screens with an emphasis on connection, conversation and creation. TEDActive celebrates the doers of TED’s community — people from around the world who create ripple effects from the ideas shared at TED.
What’s the plan for TEDActive 2015?
Great TED Talks often do one or both of the following:
… They give you a new lens on the world as it is.
… They offer new possibilities for the world as it might be.
For TEDActive 2015, we’re on a quest to magnify both facets. We will seek to challenge and reshape our core beliefs about today’s reality. And at the same time celebrate the thinkers, dreamers and mavericks who offer bold new alternatives.
In the hopes of facilitating conversations between teachers and members of the TED-Ed Community, TED-Ed also plans to provide a dedicated professional development session for our teacher attendees. This session will include discussions on using ed.ted.com in the classroom and will provide insights on applying for and facilitating a TED-Ed Club.

I use TED videos with my students on a weekly basis. I teach at a modified high school for students classified as having an emotion disturbance. I’ve been a proud staff member for almost 10 years; choosing to stay when district called me back. Having the opportunity to attend a conference would result in the best manner possible.
I am a big fan of TED and desire to be an innovator in the classroom.
I would love to attend, although I teach at community college level to developmental students. I have lots of ideas in search of a collaborator!
I teach in London,England. I love TED. OI would relish the opportunity to attend the conference. Education and learning is lifelong. We need to develop critical thinkers confident engaging in metacognition.

Attending would be amazing! I love using TedTalks with my class and have stated playing with TedEd this year. What is the cost of a discounted ticket though? I’d hate to take it from someone else if I can’t actually afford it.
Would love to attend, but asking teachers to fork over $2000 to watch a big screen is a bit much. Doesn’t the pricing (plus related expenses) limit access and divergent views?
We totally hear you — $2,000 is a lot of money. It is a 50% discount though, and TED is a nonprofit conference. Those attendance costs are fully dedicated to allowing TED Talks, TED-Ed Lessons and many other initiatives go on the internet for free for everyone!
In the past, many of our teacher attendees have fundraised to cover the tickets or have reached out to their schools and districts to see if sponsorship is a possibility. Reach out to tededclubs@ted.com for more suggestions on how you might be able to raise the money to attend!

This is all new to me yet extremely fascinating and motivating. I feel like starting to stand on my own feet if you help me maybe I can start walking and then running, jumping and then ….sky is the limit.
I would love to attend, but I teach at college level in the UK. My students are age 16 up. Do I qualify, considering grades 11 – 12 are generally 16 – 18 years old in the states?

I would be thrilled if I could attend a TED conference. I have been using TED videos in my developmental academic English classes in a college in Greece. Any chance that teachers abroad could qualify for the discount as well?
I worked with the Talented and Gifted students in a K-8 rural building. Everytime I view a TED video I am inspired and awed. I have used them with my students to motivate and inspire them to reach for the stars. There is such a broad range of videos that I can find whatever I need to fit my needs in the classroom, and it is FREE! Thank you for the opportunity to be part of your worldwide network.

C’est le fun! A TED conference might be precisely what many of us need to move beyond the drudgery of the standardized testing/NCLB era and back into authentic and creative educational enterprise. To further confound and confuse….we need this type of approach with our minority populations because all that the testing is showing us is that they are even bigger failures on the PARCC and state tests and therefore shouldn’t be allowed to go to college! Crazy system we have….
